One of the trite, catch phrases that is often used today by slick, $10,000 a day speakers is “Vision.”  But when you do a little digging into the speaker’s background (isn’t Google great!) you quickly discover that the speaker hasn’t been a vision-dispenser in years if not decades.  In the case of one of the “names” we usually associate with the “V” word, when he was at his most astounding level of leadership his entire organization was only a few dozen people. Isn't the power of myth amazing!

Many reading this blog are leading smaller churches. Most of you, regardless of your size, have one thing in common — you haven’t grown numerically in a long time.

We all have a unique story as God has taken us here and there in our journey forward in his kingdom.

Let me encourage you with one absolutely vital point today:

  • No matter how discouraging things look today
  • No matter how controlling your “Board” or “Elders” or “Deacons” may be
  • No matter if it may seem as if making a change in your situation is utterly impossible
  • Take heart!

God is larger than any man or committee — whatever they call themselves.
