When Jesus called the Church into existence in Matthew 28:18-20, it was a call to warfare. He envisioned a band of revolutionaries that would grow an ever-increasing family , all of whom increasingly resembled their leader, Jesus. The first part of the war was the hospital which was clearly defined in Acts 2 and 4. Many Communists refer to those two chapters as inspirational groundwork they hold out as a picture of heaven on Earth, in their case in vain.
A couple of thoughts that go without question:
A. If you are right now considering a new ministry role with another church, ask specifically about their view of pastors seeking therapy – whether they are positive or negative on that issue. If there is any hint of negativity or reserve expressed, drop out of that process immediately. That caution flag is the sign of lots of impending squirrelly stuff.
B. The local church needs to pay for all of your therapy – if you are a major leader in your congregation, as an investment in your future. Case closed. No brainer.
More to come…
