Presently there is a nationwide sub-culture, AKA ‘acquired taste,’ one must pick up on in order to be a part of a local church in most cases.

If your church is located in Omaha, yet your sound is the same as is typical in Los Angeles — that tells me a lot about your group, your work ethic, your level of risk.

A. Clearly, your music personnel are not being challenged to grow forward or deeper.
B. There is a laziness afoot among your music people. Whether you realize it or not, if you ask music people in Omaha, there is a definite “Omaha sound.” There are many Omaha distinctives that rightfully fit into your worship. To simply slap the L.A. worship songs into your worship set is flat out lazy. You don’t need to re-invent the wheel - just “Omahaize” your worship. Only Omaha people know what that means — I have no idea what that means specifically, though I’ve been in Omaha a few times. If in the Florida Keys it would seem odd that your sound would not be influenced by Jimmy Buffet - NOT his lyrics!
