Some of you are church planters. I wrote a book with Rob Lewin that was published by Regal in 2003 entitled Community of Kindness. It’s real title should have been "The Church Planter’s Survival Guide." If you have been following JumpStartChurch.com you have figured out that I have a heart for those kindred folk who start churches. The first five Church Planters who email me at steve@kindness.com with their name, address, email address and phone number will receive a free copy of Community of Kindness.
A gem from p. 79 of that book:
Quit Quitting
In the face of great pain it is normal to withdraw from whatever is causing that pain…Don’t get us wrong—it’s only normal to feel like quitting once or twice a year. In fact, if you don’t quit every once in a while, you aren’t paying attention or maybe you aren’t caring enough. But you can’t quit church planting—the task, that is—if a church planter is who you are. You can’t leave the city where you’ve been called…Most leaders quit planting for the same reason the rest of us quit relationships, jobs, commitments and even marriages…?

I am working on a church plant in central part of our city, Spokane, WA. We using service evangalism as a key componant along with small groups and block parties, and would love a chance to hear or read anything you think would help.
