In order to notice what is happening with people we first notice what is happening with God. Jesus said it like this, “I only do what I see the Father doing” (John 5).
How do we build noticing into our lives?
First, S-L-O-W down. The lyrics of a 60s song put it well:
“Slow down you move too fast, you got to make the morning last…”
If you are old enough to remember that song, you are really really old! Also, you probably were living at a very different pace then than you do now. You likely were really living at a fairly slow pace then. You likely were making the “morning last” back then.
If you are familiar with my turn-around experience of a few years ago, you are aware that I died for several minutes and managed to be one of four survivors out of over 300,000 who have had their abdominal aorta slit in two places.
When a person dies one tends to slow down after their first death!
I don’t wish for you to be the fifth person to survive a double aorta puncture. Why don’t you simply follow the lead of Jesus and look for his activity - and do as he is doing today… You will grow as a result.
