A need or an opportunity is not the same as a Jesus invitation. If we are paying attention to who is placed in front of us, we will pick up on divine invitations.
When the words “divine invitations” are used I am certain that many reading this readily assume this is something that happens very rarely - and then only to those spiritual people who have keenly developed senses, the types who pray for two hours a day, etc.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
These invitations are ever so obvioius. Our great enemy is a lack of expectation. Expectation accounts for a lot in life. When we anticipate something is going to happen it usually does. The opposite is equally accurate.
Another word for anticipation is faith. When you and I have a positive anticipation regarding something happening each day - or several times a day, as these invitations go, we tend to not be disappointed.
So your church is in plateau.
You haven’t seen growth in some time.
Here is a multi-million dollar coaching hint:
EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE AROUND THE PLACE WHERE JESUS IS SHOWING UP.
You as a leader (THE leader?) begin to live out a life of responding to invitations, and acting on them by living generously…
- then telling of your experiments to your people on a regular basis while teaching
- three words come to mind
- “OH MY WORD!”
Your people will do what you are doing.
I can tell you from experience that things will soon get out of hand…
That is precisely where you want them.
Out of our hands and control and into his.
